Dromer Wines is a collaboration between businessman Howard Bilton and winemaker Harold Versfeld. Having met in the Cape Winelands, the 2 immediately shared their passion for wine and more so wines of distinct terroir and the unique offerings that every area brings in promoting South Africa as the most intriguing and undervalued wine region in the world.

After a 2 year stint at D’Aria Vineyards in Durbanville, Harold decided to travel to some of world’s most renowned winemaking areas, which included Napa Valley and Nagambi Lakes district in Victoria, Australia. Having had the privilege to work Jean Hoefliger at Alpha Omega, Napa Valley, and Ben Haines, Australian Young Winemaker of the 2008 at Mitchelton Wines, Harold decided to head home in pursuit of finding a new home in the South African industry. The offer came in the form of Val de Vie wines, situated in Paarl in the heart of the South African winelands. Having spent 4 years at the helm, making some of the finest examples of Rhone style wines that South Africa has to offer, the opportunity arose in the form of Howard Bilton, wine lover and art connoisseur, to establish and produce wines of distinct terroir and exemplary quality. Some of the best vineyards in South Africa is sourced to create site specific wines that express each area and cultivar to their fullest potential.
